Earlier today I got done with class, I just finished an exam, and I was idly chatting with this black girl when I think, wait a minute, I'm trying to up my game, and this girl is fine. It starts here. By the end of this conversation, I will number close. If I fail, who cares?
So things are going well. Some light kino and C&F, and she's laughing at everything I'm saying and returning some of the kino. Actually at one point, we run into another friend of mine (a lil bit of social proofing) and chat with him a bit. I made some dumb joke and he chuckled, and HB 8.5 bursts out laughing. We're in a somewhat crowded area, and a lot of people look at her like WTF?
I had to go to the 12th floor of another building for an errand, and I wasn't sure how to get there, so
HB 8.5: Fluff fluff fluff
Me: Hey, I've gotta go to the 12 floor to take care of something, and you're taking me there.
HB 8.5: Okay.
So on the way there, we run into some of her friends, and one of my friends. I chat with him a bit, and HB8.5 chats with her friends. We were all in the same group, so I heard what they were saying (although was not paying attention).
UG .5: Are you coming to lunch with us then?
HB 8.5: No, I'm going with him over to Tower Building.
UG .5: Who's gonna buy me lunch then?
Then blah blah blah.
I didn't realize it at the time, but that seems like a bit of an IOI.
Fast forward for a while (During our conversation I found out she's 26 Laughing Laughing Laughing ). There were other interesting exchanges, I negged her a bunch, but I don't feel like writing it all.
So we start leaving, and are about to head our separate ways. At this point I'm a little nervous about the # close, so I sort of lose focus (I end up saying something downright insulting, even though I had definitely negged her down), but I go for it with some line I remember from David DeAngelo. "How about you give me your number, so we can finish this conversation later?"
She fiddles with my phone for like 10 min, and I get her number.
A little bit later it occurs to me that we should have exchanged numbers, rather than I just getting hers. So I go to send her a text
"I know you're dying to know my number, so here it is. BTW, my name is spelled *******."
(I want opinions on this, for future reference.)
Turns out the number she gave me was a digit short. Honest mistake, or rejection?
Either way, her loss. I have a date with a different girl tomorrow Laughing Laughing
BTW, this was my first attempt at a cold approach to number close. I'm real glad I did it. It was much easier than I thought it would be, and a lot of fun.
